JOB AND CAREER PROGRAMMER ANALYST/SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR

MCash is looking for a programmer analyst/system administrator to join its information and communication technology (ICT) group to build and support its payment applications that will improve the lives of ordinary citizens. The successful applicant will be part of a dynamic team, using the agile software development approach and apply software development skills to helping the advancement of cutting edge technology. The candidate should have a strong understanding of ICT processes and a clear vision in proven programming techniques for the delivery of software that include testing and deploying solutions into production environments. The candidate will also be involved in translating feature requests in our service offering into workable software solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Implement the Mcash systems through rapid prototyping and deployment;
• Apply the best practice of software development to daily work including proper code standards, testing, and release procedures;
• Develop technical and user documentation for Mcash products
• Perform routine support and bug-fixing of existing and created product applications;
• Work with the Mcash Sales team and other staff subject matter experts in cross-functional project teams to translate requirements into useful Mcash product software;
• Assist sales team with developing and presenting the technical aspects of presentations
• Work with the Sales team in defining new Mcash product sets and develop proof of concepts through rapid prototyping;
• Interface Mcash system with third parties to allow Mcash to add new innovative products to our product offering.
• Maintain strict confidentiality with respect to the Mcash technologies and customer data being processed;
• Perform routine system administration tasks on servers
• Be able to provide training to users on Mcash product sets;
• Be able to trouble shoot any reported product set problems;
• Support of Mcash operations in Uganda and other countries;
• Any other duties assigned by the technology manager.

Skills and Experience:

The candidate should have a working knowledge and comfort level in multiple programming languages:
PHP, Java,Perl, JavaScript with an orientation toward implementation of Web and Java applications. The candidate should have a background or exposure in developing applications having MySQL, Oracle or MSSQL as the primary data store capabilities and understanding of computer systems architecture, data integration concepts, deployment and support of software applications. The candidate should be comfortable with installation and usage of Linux operating systems The candidate should have at least one to two(1to2) years of proven work experience.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Masters degree in either of the following disciplines: computer science, information technology, engineering or mathematics. Applicants still in university pursuing any of the required courses are also eligible for this position.
• An understanding of developing applications that may include web and mobile applications in current market computing environments
• Extensive knowledge or proficiency in various programming tools and applications as well as multiple computer environments is a plus (including Windows, Linux, & MAC)
• Experience with MySQL, MS SQL or Oracle is a plus with knowledge of web applications (including web portal and/or web integration development/deployment and reporting application development)
• Experience with Linux operating system
• Knowledge and understanding of IT systems support (payment systems automation environments is a plus)
• An ability to develop and understand technical documentation
• Customer service oriented and proven capabilities interacting with customers / clients
• Must be self-motivated, action-oriented, team player with strong communication and organizational skills
